Crowdfunding

A method of raising funds through smaller contributions on a larger scale. Contributions are typically made prospecting customers or individual investors.
 
 Crowdfunding platforms usually require a start-up to have raised a certain percentage of their round already (some as high as 80%).
 

Crowdfunding is often used as a means of 'topping up' a round.
